People vs. Green: In 2007, Jimmy Green was charged for the 1983 murder of an Eastern Michigan University student.  The victim, an Air Force veteran, college student, and employee at an Ann Arbor engineering firm, was accosted as she walked on a path along the Huron River to her morning class.  The defendant assaulted her at knifepoint, forced her into the woods, raped her, stabbed her over twenty times, and murdered her by cutting her throat.  This "cold case" was re-investigated by Ypsilanti Police detectives together with forensic scientists from the Michigan State Police.  A DNA profile processed from preserved evidence identified the defendant in connection with the murder.  Twenty-five years after the murder, with the cooperation of many witnesses and police investigators, Eric successfully prosecuted this case earlier this year.  The defendant was found guilty of first-degree murder and first-degree criminal sexual conduct, and was sentenced to serve a life term.

People vs. White: In 2006, Lonnie White was charged with perjury, conspiracy, taking a bribe, and obstruction of justice, for his role in a jury tampering case.  This jury tampering case, the first-ever such prosecution in this county, arose from White's misconduct while serving as a juror in a murder trial in Washtenaw County Circuit Court.  White and his conspirators schemed to corrupt the jury verdict on behalf of their friend who was accused of first-degree murder.  Eric successfully prosecuted White and the co-defendants through a series of complex preliminary examination hearings, which resulted in convictions for each of the defendants.  White is serving a prison term for his crimes, and the co-defendants were also incarcerated for their respective roles.

People vs. Boldiszar: In 2002, Eric Boldiszar, a Blockbuster Video employee, was charged with the murder of his manager, a single mother.  He ambushed her as she prepared to open the Ann Arbor store located on Jackson Avenue at Maple Road.  He cut her throat and stole money from the cash registers and office safe.  The evidence against the accused relied on a DNA profile that was developed from a blood stain found on the defendant's clothing days after the murder and from the skin cells recovered from underneath the victim's fingernails.  Eric successfully prosecuted this case before a jury, resulting in a guilty verdict of first-degree murder.  The defendant is serving a life sentence.

People vs. Gates: In 2001, Omar Gates was charged with the attempted murder of two Washtenaw County Sheriff deputies in a parking lot in Ypsilanti Township.  The defendant, armed with concealed guns, shot one of the deputies and then used that wounded deputy as a shield while continuing to fire multiple rounds at the other deputy.  The uninjured deputy risked his own life to save his partner.  He charged at the defendant, exchanged gunfire with him, and ultimately wounded the defendant.  Eric successfully prosecuted this case before a jury, which returned a guilty verdict of attempted murder.  The defendant is serving a 45-year prison sentence.

People vs. Orr: In 1999, Robert Orr, Michigan Department of Corrections prison guard, was arrested and charged for the commission of sexual assaults upon female inmates.  Though the women feared retribution by other prison guards, they disclosed the abuse to Orr's superior officers.  Eric successfully prosecuted this case before a jury, which returned guilty verdicts of criminal sexual conduct.  The defendant was incarcerated for his crimes.

People vs. Slater: In 1994, Dyson Slater was charged with the murder of a young man in Ypsilanti Township.  Slater broke into the home of his former girlfriend, assaulted her with a gun, and shot and killed her new boyfriend who was  present.  Eric successfully prosecuted this matter before a jury.  The defendant was found guilty of first-degree murder. The defendant is serving a life sentence.
